Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 11, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how SermonClips.tech ("SermonClips," "we," "us," or "our"), operated by SermonClips Limited Liability Company, collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website and Service. This document describes our actual current data handling practices, based on how the Service is built today.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password. Your password is stored using industry-standard one-way hashing (bcrypt) — we do not store your password in plain text and cannot view it.

Authentication Information

When you sign in, we issue a session token used to keep you signed in. This token is stored in your browser's local storage (not in a cookie) and is sent to our servers to authenticate your requests.

Payment and Billing Information

If you subscribe to a paid plan, your payment card details are collected and processed directly by our payment processor, Stripe. SermonClips does not receive or store your full card number. We do store billing-related identifiers (such as your Stripe customer and subscription IDs) and your subscription status and tier.

Sermon and Video Content

When you use the Service, we collect the sermon video you submit (via YouTube link or direct upload) and store the transcript generated from it, and the clips, captions, and related metadata (such as clip titles, timestamps, and processing status) generated from your sermon. Directly uploaded files are stored in our cloud storage; for YouTube links, the video is downloaded temporarily for processing and the original is not kept.

Usage Information

We keep internal records of certain account activity for operational purposes — for example, how many videos you've processed in a given period (to enforce plan limits) and basic event/audit logs (such as tier changes).

We use Vercel Web Analytics, a service provided by our website host (Vercel), to count visits to our public home page, Terms of Service, and Privacy Policy pages. For those pages it records the page address, the address of the website that referred you, and the time of the visit, and Vercel may use standard request information (such as IP address and browser type) to produce aggregate statistics. It does not record visits to our sign-in or sign-up pages or to any page you use while signed in. We do not use advertising tools or any other third-party analytics or tracking tools on SermonClips.tech.

Device/Browser Information and Cookies

The SermonClips.tech application does not itself set tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies, and it does not use cookies for authentication (see "Authentication Information" above). We do not currently collect device or browser fingerprinting information. Our hosting and content-delivery providers may process standard web server request information (such as IP address) as an ordinary part of serving the website; apart from the aggregate visit statistics described under "Usage Information" above, we do not separately compile or analyze this information today.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information described above to:

  • create and manage your account and authenticate you;
  • process your sermon into transcripts, clips, reframed video, and captions, and deliver those results to you;
  • enforce plan limits (sermons per month, clip counts, storage windows);
  • process payments and manage your subscription;
  • send you service-related email (for example, a welcome email when you create an account, and a confirmation email when you upgrade your plan); and
  • maintain the security and integrity of the Service.

We do not sell your personal information or your sermon content to third parties, and we do not use your sermon content to train third-party AI models beyond the ordinary processing needed to generate your clips (see Section 4 regarding our AI processing provider).

3. How Your Sermon Content Is Processed

When you submit a sermon, it is processed through an automated pipeline that:

  • downloads the video (if submitted via YouTube link) or accepts your uploaded file;
  • generates a transcript using automated speech-to-text transcription;
  • uses AI-based analysis to identify notable moments and suggest clip boundaries;
  • extracts and reframes video clips (including automated speaker-focused framing) and generates captions; and
  • stores the resulting transcript, clips, and captions (and, for direct uploads, your uploaded file) in our cloud storage.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

We rely on the following categories of third-party providers to operate SermonClips.tech. Each processes the data described as necessary to perform its function for us:

  • Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing. Stripe receives your payment card details directly; we do not store full card numbers.
  • Supabase — hosts our production database (account, subscription, video, and clip records). We use Supabase for database hosting; we do not use Supabase's authentication service — sign-in is handled by our own backend.
  • Cloudflare R2 — cloud object storage for uploaded sermon files, generated clips, and related media.
  • Email delivery provider — used to send account and service emails (such as welcome and upgrade-confirmation emails) via SMTP.
  • OpenAI — provides the speech-to-text transcription and AI-based language processing used to analyze sermon transcripts and identify clip-worthy moments.
  • Modal — cloud compute platform that runs our backend application and video-processing workloads.
  • Vercel — hosts our website/frontend.

These providers each have their own privacy practices governing information they process on their platforms. This Policy covers SermonClips' own practices, not the independent practices of these providers.

5. Data Retention

Each plan has a stated storage window for processed clips (for example, 7 days on the Free plan, up to 90 days on Pro), shown on our Pricing page. We do not currently run an automated process that deletes your files when that window ends, so your uploaded files, clips, and captions may remain in our storage after it until you delete them or we remove them. You can delete a video, and its stored files, at any time from your dashboard (see Section 6).

Account records (such as your name, email, and subscription history) are retained for as long as your account is active, and as needed to comply with our legal and accounting obligations after that.

6. Account and Data Deletion

You may request deletion of your account at any time by emailing support@sermonclips.tech. Account deletion is currently handled by our team on request rather than through a self-service "delete my account" button in the product. Deleting a video from your dashboard removes its records and its stored media files (your uploaded file, if any, and its clips, captions, and vertical versions).

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including password hashing, authenticated API access, and encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections between your browser, our servers, and our infrastructure providers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights and Choices

You can review and update your account information by signing in to your account. You may request deletion of your account as described in Section 6. If you are located in a jurisdiction that grants you additional rights over your personal information (such as rights to access, correct, or port your data), contact us at support@sermonclips.tech and we will respond to your request. We do not currently offer a self-service data export or download feature.

9. Children's Privacy

SermonClips.tech is intended for use by church staff, pastors, and ministry administrators, and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.

10. International Users

SermonClips is operated from the United States, and our production database is hosted in the United States. If you use the Service from outside the United States, your information will be processed in the United States.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
